What Resources are available for CSL students?

Experiential Learning Fund

If Community Service Learning is an optional component of your course you may be eligible to apply for the Experiential Learning Fund

To apply, you will need to submit:

  1. Proposal Letter - Explain the activity/event, and its importance to your field of study, and ensure proper letter formatting (address, date, greeting, body, and closing).
  2. Budget - Outline any expenses related to your CSL experience (e.g., transportation, criminal record check fees, childcare, lost wages).
  3. Itinerary - Detail your schedule for the experiential learning activity.
  4. Acceptance Letter - Provide a screenshot of your CSL acceptance letter, which includes the activity details and community partner.

Community Service Learning Accessibility Bursary *only for NS students with disability

The Community Service Learning (CSL) Accessibility Bursary, sponsored by the Student Employment Initiative (SEI) Program, incentivizes students experiencing disability to undertake volunteer opportunities in the CSL program while easing the students' financial needs. The goal of the bursary is to work towards equity, diversity, and inclusion in the CSL program and ease barriers to participation while promoting enrollment in the SEI Program and its Experiential Pathway.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the bursary, students must meet all the following requirements:

  • Active domestic undergraduate or graduate students currently registered in a Community Service Learning course.
  • Be enrolled in a CSL experience coordinated by the CSL office.
  • Be a Nova Scotia resident, with a registered disability with the Nova Scotia Student Assistance or eligible to register.
  • Write a short paragraph explaining how this experiential opportunity will help your future career.
  • To submit an application fill in the form posted on the CSL module of your course on Brightspace.
